Teaching Background

Colette is an experienced teacher, having begun piano teaching while still a student herself. She began piano teaching in 2001, and was also Assistant to the Director of Music at St. Michael's church Dun Laoghaire where she directed the children's choir. During her tenure, the choir sang on national television and won a national choir competition. After her move to London, she taught at Rosebery School for girls in Epsom and latterly, Emanuel School in Battersea. Colette was the director of the West Barnes Singers and Assistant Director of Music at St. Mary's in Wimbledon where again she directed the choristers.

She has a keen interest in helping everyone to enhance their own voice by giving them accessible information on vocal technique. Colette has significant experience of working with singers young and old, in a group or individual setting. To see how an individual or a group of singers  develop their voices and confidence is something she thrives on. Music is something that everyone can enjoy, no matter what the age or experience.

Colette is based in Alnwick, Northumberland and has just recently become part of the Music Service team there, teaching piano and voice. She is also looking into building up a private teaching practice in the area, so please get in touch if you are looking for lessons for any reason; be it developing more confidence in your technique if you sing with a choral society or choir, or whether it is for pure enjoyment.
